Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

For most adult acne sufferers, there are so many restrictions when it comes to food. If you are suffering from adult acne then I am sure you would understand what I am talking about. Don’t eat that – your acne pimples would get worse! You must have heard similar statements like that before from either your friends, parents or even your doctor. After extensive study by researchers, the fact is diet does not cause acne, although in some situations some certain foods might aggravate acne a bit, but still diet is not the cause of acne.

Although a healthy diet is important for achieving a healthy skin, the simple truth is that eating greasy or sugary foods are not the main cause of the adult acne pimples on your skin. According to a study published in the journal of the American Medical Association, “diet is not the main cause of adult acne”. But this doesn’t give you the go ahead to go eating all sorts of junk foods. If you notice that your acne pimples is aggravated by eating some certain foods, common sense should simply tell you to avoid eating such foods to prevent acne pimples breakouts.

Don’t just conclude that diet does not affect acne. Since the skin is the body’s largest organ, anything that is good for your body will definitely reflect positively on the skin. There are certain nutrients that are found in natural foods and they have been proven to promote a healthy body which would translate to a healthy skin. It is better you know more about these substances and find ways of incorporating foods rich in these nutrients into your diet. Doing this would greatly increase your chances of conquering adult acne.

Acne diet Tip #1 – Vitamin A: You can get naturally occurring Vitamin A which is retinol, in fish oils, dairy products and liver.

The plant form of Vitamin A is known as Beta-carotene and it is found in orange and yellow vegetables and fruits such as apricots, cantaloupe and carrots as well as fresh green vegetables like spinach, parsley and kale. One thing you must have in mind is that consuming high doses of Vitamin A is toxic, so try not to overdo it.

Acne diet Tip #2 – Vitamin B-2: For so many acne sufferers, stress is one factor that can aggravate their acne pimples, so it is advisable you eat foods rich in Vitamin B-2, which is very helpful in alleviating stress.

Foods such as milk, eggs, meat, leafy green vegetables, fish and whole grains contain high concentration of Vitamin B-2.

It also reduces the level of cholesterols in your blood streams and assists your body in metabolizing protein, fat and sugar. This increases your energy because of the proper use of your food intake.

Acne diet Tip #4 – Vitamin E: Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects your cells against the effects of free radicals. These free radicals are a potentially harmful by-product of your body’s metabolism.

Natural occurring Vitamin E is found in vegetable oils, almonds, sunflower seeds, broccoli, peanuts and wheat germ.

Acne diet Tip #5 – Zinc: Zinc is an antioxidant that boosts the immune system. This improves your overall health which would be reflected on your skin. Foods rich in Zinc include: mushrooms, nuts, eggs and whole grains.

Asides these few diet tips, you should know what foods trigger you acne breakouts. There are some certain foods that trigger my own acne pimples and I avoid eating too much of such foods. Low-carb Diet – Tips to Fight Those Crazy Carb Cravings

Monday, January 25th, 2010

For most of us, daily life is very structured and consistent. We wake up, shower and get dressed, and hit the road for work. We put in our eight hours at work, taking breaks on regular schedules. We come home, make dinner, get the kids ready for bed (if we’re at that stage), then we have a few hours to ourselves.

This daily structure is actually very good for bodybuilding nutrition – most of the time. The consistent schedule of a work day is wonderful for getting in all of your bodybuilding meals on a regular basis. Breakfast is consumed at the same time every day, because you have to. Breaks give you a chance to drink a protein shake, and lunch and dinner are on the same schedule as well, dictated to you by your schedule. There isn’t much time to stray into junk food arena either, as that food typically isn’t available and there isn’t time to think about it – you’re just too busy.

Those hours in the evening are the most dangerous to bodybuilding nutrition. This lack of structure is wonderful for unwinding and enjoying life. But it also leads to boredom and the willingness to break from a diet and eat junk food, or to miss a meal entirely. Here are a few ideas for stopping the nighttime collapse.

Alternative snacks

It’s a good idea to have fat-free and sugar-free foods on hand for those times when night-time urges kick in. Snacking on them can help the urges pass. Don’t make them a regular thing though – they may interfere with sleep and provide empty calories you don’t need.

Schedule

If you can plan the first 12 to 14 hours of your waking day down to a tee (including meals), you can plan your relax time just as easily. You might even find you are able to enjoy more fun things every evening if you plan it out ahead of time.

Discipline

What is more important to you – possessing an incredible physique and reaching your personal potential for muscle mass and vascularity, or goofing off? Be strong, remain focused, and put all of your energy into reaching your bodybuilding goals.

But Why is My Diet not Working

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Jennifer, a middle-aged single mother with one six-year-old daughter, has been skipping sweets for a few weeks now. Shes also become a stickler for portion control. She feels as if shes eating less than ever, and shes been diligently exercising for an hour at a time at least four days a week. Yet, she hasnt lost a single pound. The question is, Why? This is a dilemma which affects dieters the world over. They think they are taking the steps necessary to lose weight, but nothing seems to be happening. In essence, they are trapped in a dieting rut and they dont know how to free themselves. As a result, they become frustrated and depressed and may then engage in binge eating. One of the problems with diets is that they are often standardized. As a result, they dont take into consideration your individual physiology and metabolism. They provide a cookie-cutter approach to weight lossan approach which may not work in your individual case. As a result, an increasing number of people are turning to dieticians to formulate a person weight loss strategy for them. This process has been made easier through the Internet, where you can correspond with a dietician any time of the day or night via e-mail. The dietician can also act as your personal coach, helping you through your dieting dilemmas. Another reason that you may be failing at your diet is because of a lack of support. You may have family members who can eat whatever they want and seemingly not gain a pound. As a result, they may fill your refrigerator with junk food, leading you into temptation. Also, you may feel as if you have no one to turn to in order to discuss your weight problems. In order to solve this problem, many individuals look to psychotherapists to help them with their food-related issues. This can be particularly important if an individual has turned to purging in an effort to combat their weight problems. Bulimia is a serious disease which must be treated in order to ensure the good health of the patient. Thankfully, there are a number of treatment programs throughout the U.S. specifically focusing on bulimia. Yet another reason for diet failure is hidden calories. You may literally be consuming calories and not even realize it. For instance, the frappucinos that are so popular today are loaded with caloriesas many as 600 in a single serving! You may also be indulging in sugary sodasanother source of extra calories. By taking a few simple steps, such as eliminating the exotic coffee drinks from your diet and substituting skim milk for whole milk, you may be able to eliminate the hidden calories that are denying you dieting success. Lack of consistency can also be a diet-killer. You might go on a diet for a while, then quit before youve made any measurable progress. Its only natural to want to see quick results. The problem is that healthy weight lose involves loseing only a couple of pounds a week. That means youll have to stay on your diet for months before you see appreciable weight loss. Discouraging? It can be, but if you keep a positive attitude you can achieve your ideal weight. You may also be more successful in your dieting if you consider it to be a lifestyle change. Therefore, your diet becomes a meal plan for life. This means that you must change the way you look at food. It is designed to be fuel for your body, and nothing more. As a result, you should not turn to food to make you feel better or to provide you with a sense of comfort. A lifestyle change implies commitment; it means that you are prepared to follow the plan for the long haul. If you feel as if you cannot be on your diet for any appreciable length of time, perhaps its time to consider a different diet. Your aim ultimately should be not simply to lose weight, but to become healthier. A fad diet will not allow you to reach that milestone. Therefore, you must choose your diet carefully.

Diet Tips to Lose Weight

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

If you are trying to lose weight, then you are not alone. Talk of obesity epidemics seem to be all over the news and commercials breaks are littered with slimming products and dieting aids. But do any of them work?

I don’t know about that, but I do know that there is one simple solution to lose weight. Its relatively simple, reduce your intake of calories and do more exercise. Its sounds simple, but as many of you know in reality it can be harder to achieve.

So how can we make it easier?

Well, the main problem that people have when trying to lose weight is the feeling of hunger. When you get hunger pangs, it can be very difficult to ignore them. One trick you can try to reduce them however, is to drink water. Just take a sip of water everytime you get a hunger pang, and it should ease it.

The theory behind this is that people can’t tell the difference between hunger and thirst signals. So before you start to snack, reach for a glass of water. It is recommended that you should drink around 8 glasses a day.

Dieting doesn’t have to be boring. There are lots of tasty things you can eat when on a diet. For example, if you have a sweet tooth, you can try eating fit instead of sweets. Fruit contains natural sugars that are better for your health. They are also rich in vitamins.

Eating lots of fibre is another way to reduce the feeling of hunger. It leaves you feeling fuller for longer. You may have heard this claim on cereals, this is because they mostly contain high amount so fibre. But make sure you avoid the ones loaded with sugar. Try to find a variety of sugar-free muesli. You may think that all muesli is sugar free, but check out the label for hidden ingredients.

Eating lots of vegetables is a great way to get fibre without consuming too many calories.

Exercise doesn’t have to be boring either. Try something fun, like a dance class or ice skating. You would be surprised at the amount of calories you burn doing this.

You don’t have to make too much of a drastic change to your lifestyle to achieve your weight loss goals. Little changes you make everyday will add up, and before you know it you will be several pounds, or even stones lighter.

Diet Tips For Natural Weight Loss

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Having a hard time dieting every day? Well let’s get started with today’s schedule. Depending on your work schedule you should try to do a quick workout when you wake up in the morning before you go to work. Remember this is just a quick workout nothing too much to get you tired for work but to get the blood flowing and help you stay alert. Your workout will cause the body to start burning calories to start your day off. Be sure to eat a healthy breakfast. Remember to drink water through out the day.
Once lunch time comes do not just run to the closest fast food restaurant near you. If you have to settle for something quick you could go to subway for example; however that doesn’t mean you get one of their teriyaki chicken subs or go heavy on anything. A simple cold cut with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, maybe just a dab of mustard will be just fine. Of course you going to crave for certain things but instead of eating your normal portion just eat half now and half for later. This is so you do not consume so much of things that will hinder your diet.
Sometime after you get home from work, you can go eat a little snack and then start your workout. This time the workout should be longer than from what you did in the morning. Also instead of working out depending on that day you could just go for a walk. You burn calories as you walk so you do not have to worry about a full workout every day. In between meals you can also eat a lot of different types of fruit. It’s healthy as it provides nutrition your body needs. Also this will help replace some of the food intake of other foods that aren’t as healthy.
Now it’s time for dinner. Remember to try to stay away from greasy and fried foods as well. For instance, instead of having fried chicken substitute that for baked chicken. Instead of using vegetable oil use extra virgin olive oil. Just enough to coat the skillet or pot that your using. This will help keep the calories down. Also as for seasoning make sure you only lightly season your dishes. Just enough to taste is fine but do not overdo it. For desserts just eat a smaller portion than you normally do as well as make sure it’s not too much sugar etc.
The key is eating smaller portions of the things you like as well as eating healthy mixed in. For example, when you make a sandwich instead of white bread use wheat bread. It’s healthier. Snacks between meals will help balance things out so that you are not starving yourself until the next meals comes. This is so you do not torture yourself. If you did not eat anything between meals then you would most likely start eating more during meals to the point your either eating the same portions before you started dieting or even more.

Female Bodybuilding Diet Tips

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I wanted to take the time to share with you some of my female bodybuilding diet tips. I’ve been doing training in this sport for almost a decade now and I’ve really learned a lot. Since I was a female in a male dominated sport, I had no information to help me along the way. I was forced to learn through trial and error, so I’m going to share some of what I learned with you.

Tip: You’re faced with a challenge when you sleep. Obviously, you want to have a full 9hrs of sleep, but you don’t have any nutrition coming into your body to help you build muscle. There’s a problem here, but I’ve figured out the solution. Eat fat before bed slows down the digestive proccess, so if you eat a combination of protein and fat, it will slowly digest itself throughout the night. This allows you to get your sleep and the nutrients necessary to build muscle.

Tip: My other female bodybuilding tip is to start eating smaller meals about every 2-3hrs. The reason for this is simple; to give your body a constant flow of nutrients to repair muscles with. Your body doesn’t immediately repair muscle tissue. It takes roughly 48hrs after you work them out to fully repair themselves. That means during that time you’ll need to have a constant flow of nutrients.

If you follow these you will have great results. You’ll notice that very little of what you do in the gym will make up the results. Your diet will determine how well things are going to go. That’s why you need to follow all these bodybuilding diet tips.

Female bodybuilding is a serious sport, so you need a serious guide like Iron Dolls. It is the only guide designed specifically for the female body.

Diet Tips for Female Bodybuilders

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I want to talk to you about diet tips for female bodybuilders. I know most people like to think that you’re going to get the work done in the gym, but it is the diet that makes or breaks you. Your body is able to build muscle and cut fat based on what you eat. You can literally do any type of exercise at the gym and your diet will determine exactly what will happen to your body. We all know that we should be eating good natural foods that aren’t processed and full of chemicals, but there are a lot of little things that you need to get right to make this work. This is why I’m sharing with you diet tips for female bodybuilders. My first tip is really a reminder of the most fundamental basic; you have to eat every 2-3hrs. Basically our body will consume nutrients within the first few hours of what you eat. You always have to have food digesting. It also helps you with your metabolism. The second tip is that cottage cheese is your friend. I know a lot of people don’t like the taste or texture of this food, but it is the best thing you can eat before bed. It is fattening, so it slows down the digestion of the protein. That means you’ll be getting protein all night while you sleep. My last diet tip for female bodybuilders is to limit variety. I know it seems like an odd request, but it is documented as proof. The top athletes in the world that have the lowest body fat are people that eat the same meals everyday. When you eat the same things for every meal, you’ll build a good habit.

Fast food dieting tips

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Reality is we live in a fast food wonderland and that isnt going to go away anytime soon. It is so easy to hit a drive thru with the busy schedules we keep. A lot of people are in such a rush they end up eating fast food at least once a day some up to three times a day.

At least half of those people are either on a diet, have been on a diet, or considering a diet. Unless you know the right choices to make while visiting your favorite meal on wheels you will soon lose interest in your dieting goal.

Here are a few tips if you need to keep the fast food flowing through your body but you want to lose weight.

The first thing you should do if you have to keep pumping fast food meals in your body is change your breakfast habits. Now a lot of fast food junkies dont eat breakfast so when it comes to lunch time even though your brain says small fries your mouth yells out large frieslarge friesI want large friesplease. So instead of skipping breakfast grab a meal bar high in fiber. You can get fiber one bars in the cereal isle of your favorite grocery store. Out of all the meal bars I have tried they are my favorite and they are cheaper then most. Depending on your weight try having two to be satisfied. The fiber will help keep you feeling full and regular.

Lunch time rolls around and its time to hit your favorite drive thru. Here are some of my what to order items from a few of the most widely available fast food restaurants:

McDonalds

Put down the quarter pounder with cheese at a whopping 510 calories; order a cheese burger for 300 calories or a double cheese burger for 440 calories. If you are a chicken sandwich person order the Southern style chicken sandwich only 400 calories verses the 630 in a crispy chicken club. Go for the small fries. Enjoy salads? Order the Caesar with grilled chicken for only 220 calories. The highest calorie count for any salad is 410 so any of those would be a good choice. Dont get a soda dont get diet soda, order an iced tea for zero calories, or order a Powerade mountain blast for lower calories.

Burger King

Whopper with cheese lover, I am but not for 770 calories! Order the whopper jr. for a slimmer 420 calories. What a difference, right! Better yet order a cheese burger for a lower 340 calories. For the chicken sandwich lovers order an Italian original chicken sandwich for 520 instead of an original chicken club for a large 690 calories. I would really stay away from the chicken sandwich altogether. Burger King has great salads in my opinion the best for a meal on wheels. The tendercrisp chicken salad is 420 calories and my personal favorite however the tendergrill chicken salad is much better at a low 240 calories. A small onion ring is 143 calories and a small fry is 229 go for the rings you know you want to. As for the drinks same goes, stay away from the sodas.

Taco Bell

Now this is a dieters dream. Taco bell has taken notice to the overweight world and decided to deliver the better choice. All I have to say about this is order it fresco style and you will not go wrong! The fresco menu is made for people watching calories. Most menu boards will tell you the calorie count in each fresco item. So head for the border and order some great fast diet food.

In conclusion you can still lose weight and keep that fast food loving feeling going strong. Now that you know a little more about what to order you can keep it in your diet and mold the rest of your diet around your fast food meal. Aim to keep your fast food meals 700 calories or lower depending on your weight loss goal.
